1330 | More on group control skills: how to encourage audience participation; how best to influence group behaviour; how deal with formal situations; how to lead a discussion. The principles of persuasion and advocacy; audience analysis; what is likely to appeal.
International conferences: if there is interest, we will discuss the special problems which can arise when we are being simultaneously interpreted or when we address audiences to whom English is a second language. |
1400 | Finishing preparation for the last presentation: this will be a five-minute talk on a topic about which participants feel relatively strongly. |
1430 | Last presentations start. These will be analysed as before, but this time we will judge the talks on persuasiveness of argument and the sense of purpose and enthusiasm communicated to the audience, in addition to the criteria we used for earlier speeches. Members of the audience may ask questions and we will assess the speaker on his or her ability to deal with these.
During the analysis of the last speech, the course director will discuss with each participant what he should concentrate on in the future to ensure continued improvement. |
1700 | Conclusion of the course. A discussion on what we have achieved and how it compares with the objectives we set at the start of the seminar. |
1730 | Course ends. |
